ENGINE CRS S88 125

TEST DESCRIPTION

The tested engine was CRS S88 125. The test was made using a Soft-Engine accelerative dynamometer for engine, braked with a blade, that offereded a quadratic reisitance. This 125 cc engine givess about 40 HP. Test was made in six  heats: in the first heat, the La prova θ stata effettuata  in 6 sessioni. The first session of tests has been effected on an engine with an original pot, then changes are been made to the central part of the pot and the lamellar package. Some comparisons have finally, been effected for appraising differences of the behavior of the motor in these different situations.

Particular of the Soft-Engine dyno used for the test, the shovel is suitable for the quadratic braking

THE RESULTS

ENGINE WITH AN ORIGINAL SILENCER: HORSEPOWER...

The engine horsepower, corrected with pot and original thin plates (thickness 0.45-0.45 mms), was 40.34 HP, at 12920 Rpm.

  ...AND TORQUE

Also the values of the torque of the original motor are satisfactory: 2.27 Kgm at 12910 rpm, slightly before the peak of power.

VARIATION A: INCREASE OF 3 mm CENTRAL PART OF SILENCER

The length of the central part of the pot of 3 mm has been increased vs the original situation: (the thin plates are the same of the original situation): now the maximum power is of 40.32 HP at 12760 Rpm. Practically the horsepower of peak has been unchanged, however we notice that the maximum one has been anticipated of 150 turns. The same tell him for the maximum torque(2.29 Kgm at12440 rpm).

VARIATION B: RIDUCTION LAMELLA THICNESS UP THAN 0.40 mm

The thin plate above was reduced to 0.40 mm respect the A session of test. It is made necessary bringing the maximum throw to 135, pin U2 and 1/2, position from the tall one. an increase of the power of peak notices you than at least half horse (40.88 HP at 12680 Rpm).

VARIATION C:MODIFICATION OF LAMELLAS PACKAGE

Respect the previous situation the lamella package has been turned: the thin plate has been set below that thicker one. After this change, a substantial diminution of the maximum horsepower is noticed (39.98 HP vs 40.88 HP, at 12790 Rpm). This is a fact to put in evidence, because the thin plates are often climbed on at random.

VARIATION D: RESTORING THE ORIGINAL CONDITIONS

Now, we restore the original pot (respect the preceding case the original pot is shorter than 3 mm) and the lamella package original (thin plates under-above both thick 0.45 mm). So, we return to the original conditions, nevertheless the carburization is modified, retouching it with the pins, bringing the maximum throw to 135, pin U2-2A and 1/2, position from the tall one. This time, the horsepower of peak is of 41.52 Cv at 13050 Rpm. This is the taller maximum horsepower of the whole session of tests.

We thanks the firm CRS of Montecchio (PU, Italy) for the kind collaboration.
