 "DYNOSHOCK" SHOCK-ABSORBER DYNAMOMETER

INTRODUCTION

Soft-Engine is present in the shock-absorber dynamometers with the bench "DYNOSHOCK" for dampers. The first model was presentes on market in the September 2004. Soft-Engine Damper bench, is a direct conseguence of studies of "Soft-Engine R&D", that made a revoluctionary computing software about suspension world, the Suspension. So, these things show that actually the company is going to start some new products specific for suspension systems. By this dynamometer is possible to test any kind of damper, Mac Pherson also. Infact, there are four models for different purpouse, and the software allow all possible test typology.

New! "DYNOSHOCK 2" is the last SOFT-ENGINE new model in the shock-absorbers dyno word. This is a portable and compact model, suitable to test scooter and motorcycles shock-absorbers with forces up to 300 Kg.

SHOCK-ABSORBER DYNAMOMETER

The suspensions bench for vehicles have these features, according to the model:

MODEL "DYNO-SHOCK 2"

-Bench mecanics:

-“Scotch-yoke “ mechanism, maximum stroke 150 mm; 1 mm adjustable stroke;

-Speed without charge more than 2000 mm/s;

-Speed with charge more than 600 mm/s (*);

-Electric motor horsepower: 2 KW (3 HP), mono-phase;

-Steel frame;

-Electronic / Devices:

-High resolution acquisition electronic unit;

-300 Kg load cell;

-Inverter (see the electric motor horsepower);

-Linear displacement  transducer (freq.1 KHz);

-Thermocouple (OPTIONAL);

-Software: Shock 3.1:

Dyno’s software can store data from tests and show graphs and charts about: damper’s work; in particular;

-Force vs displacement (or Speed or Time);

-Force vs  Speed and absolute Speed;

-Absolute force vs absolute Speed;

-Mean force vs absolute Speed;

-Peaks of Force vs Speed;

-Gas test force vs Crank angle;

-Force (bound and rebound shared) vs Time;

-Displacement vs Time;

-Velocity vs Time;

-Temperature of shock body vs Time (OPTIONAL).

-Test modalities:

-SINGLE SPEED TEST The shock dyno rotates at a single speed for an  entire revolution, storing data and making graphs;

-VARIABLE SPEED TEST The dyno runs  the damper at several crank speed and stores data for each speed at the maximum and minimum velocity the damper reaches.

-FAST TEST the dynamometer does not store the data but allows the shock-absorber obscillation at several multiple speeds to check its correct working.

Before starting any kind of test is possible to run these preliminary tests:

-WARM UP TEST to make the oil damper to reach the optimal working temperature before starting the test (OPTIONAL);

-GAS TEST to value the influence of gas in damper’s work0

-SEAL DRAG TEST (FRICTION TEST) that is a semi static test to value the friction inside the damper body cause the seal; it is included in the gas test;

-TRESHOLD INTERFERENCE TEST to impose a force treshold. It starts a preliminary test in wich speed is very low, and software gives a warning message if  the force thresholdis overcrossed;

-TRESHOLD FORCE TEST: the same of “Threshold-interference test” but the force control is made during the principal test.

-Safety devices:

-All moving parts protection;

-Emergency press button.

ACCESSORIES

"FORCE FIX" TEST

The test ask the user to input a wished “Max force”: when test is ran, the test speed increases step by step until the damper peak of force is equal to the “Max force” imposed. After test the software shows a peak force diagram (togheter to the other diagrams) in which the last six measured expansion and compression peak of force are shown.

CROSS BAR AUTOMATIC MOUVEMENT

By this accessory it’s possible to move the cross bar with an electronic device. There is an electric motor that moves the cross bar along two traks. Two buttons on the front dynamometer panel manage the mouvement.
