OUR STORY...

Soft-Engine first appeared on the motor scene between 1990 and 1991, as a company producing engine engineering software. Thanks to its co-operation with some specialised magazines, Soft-Engine started publishing articles and papers written by its founder Mr Gabriele M.Serpilli, an engineer. From 1993 to 1997 he wrote articles for top magazines and reviews, such as "Autotecnica" and "Mototecnica". He published about 40 articles dealing with 2-stroke and 4-strokes engines, motorcycle's dynamics, cams design, and vehicle performances, with appropriate diagrams and simulations.

Soft-Engine recently wrote for "VROOM", an Italian magazine about KARTING

Now Soft-Engine co-operates with some foreign magazines, such as "Mototechnologie", a French one.
These articles are obviously the result of a hard work and long studies and researches
carried out by the skilled personnel working at Soft-Engine, whose experience find its main origin in the development of computing software. We have a large multimedia library containing scientific records, volumes, data, examples, experiments, and pictures.

Soft-Engine esteems that the knowledge of a topic is the key factor and its products have always been the result of serious analysis and studies, no ‘blurred copies’ of unknown ideas.

We have a direct contact with fans and users who are free of putting us any kind of questions concerning engines (i.e. the reason why  mono-roller inertial dynos are better than  two rollers dynos,  or how to reach engine balancing;  the difference between long and short conduits and others...

Soft-Engine co-operates with well-renown Italian companies, such as "Franco Morini Motori" (Bologna, Italy),  "Oral Engineering" (Maranello, Italy) and several others italian and foreign teams: these are the results of our quality choices.

Proud of its sound experience, Soft-Engine started the conception of an accelerative dynamometer in 1995. Its mechanics is simple yet reliable and its electronics and software are powerful and sophisticated. Our staff permanent goal is to develop a simple yet interesting product, enriched with that special touch that can only finds its source in our skilful personnel. Thanks to our strong commitment, Yet in  2003 wide range of products includes more than 20 commercial software and various beta-versions, 13 dynamometer models (customised products on request) to measure the horse-power, torque and performances of several kind of vehicle like minibikes, scooter, motorcycles, superbike, engine, kart engine, 2x2 and 4x4 cars and others. In-fact, Soft-Engine's  different dynamometer models are both accelerative and braked, to test vehicles from 2 HP (minibikes) to 800 HP (car 4x4). We are also the official furnisher of prestigious SUZUKI ITALIA's assistance and dealers net, and APRILIA ITALIA advises our dynamometers to its net.

On September 2004 Soft-Engine begins a new productions, the suspension dynamometer to test car and bike shock-absorbers, this is the result of a long work by our engineers.

Another input is about engine simulation software, that are up-graded and offer to high-professional companies. For example, the new Suspension 3.0 software is revoluctionary because it allows all possible rear motorcycle suspension layout draw and test. So, Soft-Engine starts another very specialistic production, the suspension systems.

Finally, the new activity of Research and development allows our engeineers to increase their knowledge of these subjects, starting very strong collaboration with prestigious companies and universities, writing some technical articles about mechanical world and making plannings about cams systems and others. One of several reached results is the publication, in Italy, of the first volume of Soft-Engine Journal on September, 2003: the following volume will be  published in Dicember, 2004.
