The
different models of SOFT-ENGINE's engine dynamometers allows any kind of test for each
category of engine. The flywheel is
very heavy, and so the max. horse-power you can measure is more than
100 HP, and it is truthful.
Dynamometer
chassis is maded with a sturdy milled bed, in wich a big flywheel (Inertial
models) or the eddy cuurent brake (Braker
models) is assembled. The dynamometer is varnished in a vivid red colour with a strong visual effect.
Soft-Engine
engine dynamometers exsists in two different versions, Inertial
(accelerative tests) and Braker
(braked tests) When the
dynamometer is used in the accelerative
mode, it can measure quantities like horse-power, torque,
acceleration, vehicle speed and distance (travelled by the vehicle
over the roller, only if you input the pneumatic development data), with great precision and quickness.
About "Inertial
ENGINE 100" model, this dyno is specific for Kart engine 60-100-125 cc,
and for each others engine until 70 HP.

The basic-model
doesn't have the accessories or devices, but it
is suitable to up-grade them in a second time after the payment.
The most
complete dynamometer model is called "Braker
ENGINE": thanks to the eddy
current brake, you can stop the acceleration at different
rpm points you've imposed on the software, so you can make the
engine mapping. Moreover, by our
special test, called "Inertial & Braker", it's
possible to make a truthful road-simulation,
because while you accelerate the vehicle, the eddy current
brake gives a suitable load to engine to simulate the road
frictions. The dyno "BRAKER ENGINE 100"
is suitable to test engine up to 100 HP; the dyno "BRAKER
ENGINE 250" can measure horsepowers up to 300 HP, so
it is suitable for motorbike engine also.
The
SOFT-ENGINE braked dynamoeter “Braker Engine 600
Truck” is suitable to test hi horsepowers and torque
engines, for example trucks, bus and other hi-torque engine. It can measure quantities likes
Horsepower, Torque and performances. Using this type of
dyno is necessary to get off the engine from the vehicle and to connect it to a special dynamometer connection. A device called
“Eddy current brake” brakes the engine to different input rpm (or speed) values and capture the
traction force datum in that point by a load cell
sensor; another sensor, called "phonic
wheel" gets the engine rpm data. The value of hosepower and torque is gotten reading the value of a resistant
force on a load cell using a braked dynamometer. Knowing the measured Force's distance of application, the value of horsepower can be drawn through the torque value. In this way, with a braked dyno, it is possible to make
mapping tests, (read horsepower and torque values only in some points of interest just input); besides, a whole series of tests are possible, whether to put the
engine under a constant or variable load, to simulate various conditions, like
road simulation, simulate the effect of a slope and others...
The
dynamometer has some accessories like
carburation data acquisition by lambda
device, rpm direct acquisition, exhaust
gas temperature measurement, and others. All the
accessories can be added in a second time after basic-dynamometer
purchasing. Accelerative dynmometers are suitable to up-grade the
eddy current brake, so you can change quickly your Soft-Engine
accelerative dynamometer into a braked ones, payng only the
different cost!
Finally, Soft-Engine
gives to you a complete cooling fan - exhaust gas aspiration system,
suitable for this dynamometers. The rear safety gate (annexed to the
basic dynamometer) works also like an exhaust gas collector,
certaninly an elegant and working idea. Soft-Engine builds also
isolated rooms for theese dynamometers.
